Level 3 Apprenticeship in Junior Content Producer


Course Overview

This apprenticeship includes learning about Content Production, covering the aspects of developing and creating content that can be used across a variety of media including digital, social media, broadcast or in print.

You will learn how to follow customer/client briefs, as well as research, prepare and develop the media message to maximise audience engagement including understanding the strategy and objectives of the brand, and the needs of the customer they are representing.

Job roles for an apprenticeship in this sector include: creative content assistant, digital marketing, marketing assistant, design publishing, creative artworker, advertising assistant.

Course Content

The primary role of a Junior Content Producer is to create content that can be used as part of media, advertising, and marketing campaigns, to capture what is exciting about the campaign and design the elements that can be used across media platforms and channels. You will collaborate with designers and developers, using authoring languages to create content for the World Wide Web, which may include video, imagines, or text for web pages and social media content, so an enthusiasm for technology and creating great online experiences is a must.

Throughout the apprenticeship you will learn:  

  • Content planning - ensure that the content being developed is organised, structured and labelled effectively and in a logical manner that allows for efficient search and retrieval.  
  • Content development - Understand the user experience to ensure content is focused on maximising engagement.  
  • Content creation and evaluation - Use industry standard tools and content management systems to manage content. Use lessons learned to evaluate the success of the campaign and identify areas for improvement for future campaigns.  
  • Industry awareness - Develop and maintain own competence and knowledge in specialist areas.

Entry Requirement

4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths and English or equivalent (Functional Skills). Learners must be employed within the sector to enrol on the apprenticeship.


As part of the apprenticeship programme you will spend four days in the workplace and one day at college. The Level 3 NVQ for Junior Content Producer qualification is assessed through practical training and assessment tasks at work. The Level 3 Diploma in Junior Content Producer is assessed through the completion of college assignments.

Where does this course lead to

Upon completion of the apprenticeship you can progress into Content Creation/Development roles at more senior levels across the industry, including with digital agencies, broadcasters and publishers.
