Course Overview

Year 2 
This one-year advanced level course will be your destination after successful completion of the NCFE Level 3 Diploma course. You will continue to learn about a wide range of public services, starting to develop a strategy for the recruitment process. 

The course is a 50/50 mix of theory-based units and practical elements looking at a range of services such as the Police, Army, Prison Service, RAF and Fire Service. Learners are encouraged to link with a wide range of employers, using Linked in to help promote employability. The units covered in the Extended Diploma are wide-ranging such as mental and physical wellbeing, discipline, land and water-based activities, conflict management and volunteering.

The Extended Diploma covers a wide range of subjects including:

Unit 7 Mental and Physical Wellbeing
Unit 10 Conflict Management
Unit 13 Emergency Planning
Unit 14 War and Conflict on the UPS
Unit 16 Land Based
Unit 17 Water Based
Unit 19 Discipline
Unit 23 Volunteering
Unit 25 Security procedures

Entry Requirement

Successful completion of the Level 3 NCFE Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services

Assessment

The qualification will be assessed through 100% course work with no exam required. The units are completed using PASS,MERIT and DISTINCTION criteria.

The assignments issued will be wide ranging where you will be required to produce:
- Essays
- Presentations
- Discussions
- Practical tasks such as Map Reading 

The types of assessment are developed and adapted by the teacher, ensuring the needs of the learner is met. 

Over the year you will create a portfolio of evidence, which will be used to ensure successful completion of the qualification

The qualification can give you the opportunity to progress your career in a way that best meets your circumstances. 

Learners on the qualification can use the course to:

- Attend university studying a higher education qualification. The NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services comes with the following UCAS points:
? Distinction*: 168
? Distinction: 144
? Merit: 96
? Pass: 48

- Apply for different Apprentice or Traineeship opportunities

- Apply directly for entry to a Uniformed Service

- Learners wishing to follow a career in Health Care such as a Paramedic, could apply for a Foundation Science Degree.

- If undertaken students will also make progress on the Duke of Edinburgh award.
