This one-year course provides you with the foundation skills and knowledge to prepare you for employment or more likely higher level study for entry into the services. You will learn about employment in the uniformed services, physical fitness, team-working, health and safety, health and hygiene, equality and diversity, undertaking adventurous activities and competitive sports.
It will provide you with an insight into the practical qualities you will require, not only for uniformed services, but also for employment in general.
The course covers a wide range of subjects including:
Learners will have the opportunity to visit a variety of public services and will also gain knowledge of the industry from a wide range of speakers. To enhance employment opportunities the course may also have additional qualifications built into the programme.
You will need four GCSEs at grade D/3 (preferably to include English, maths and a science) or successful completion of our Future Pathways course.
The course is continuously assessed with assignments, projects and case studies.Learners will develop a responsible and co-operative approach to working on your own and in groups, using practical activities and presentations.
This course is a recognised route into a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services. Learners should aim for a merit or distinction grade at the end of the course to ensure progression.
