This two-year course is part of the Sport and Fitness Academy and is aimed at those heading for a career in the sport and exercise industry. You will develop the theoretical knowledge that underpins key practical skills so you gain the know-how as well as the how-to. This course has excellent links with the local community so you can practise your skills in real sport and exercise settings. The course has a robust academic foundation, ideal if you would like to progress further or onto university level study.

The increased professionalism of sport in the 21st Century was seen the growth in demand for sport and exercise science professionals. This course aims to provide underpinning knowledge of the industry and create specific pathways into careers, particularly personal training and Sports Massage.

The course provides theoretical knowledge relating to anatomy, physiology and Psychology as well as developing key practical skills in fitness testing, sports coaching, sports massage and instructing physical activity. This includes the use of industry standard equipment including analysis software, Force Platforms and body fat testing.

On completion students will be able to move into employment, progress to university or Further study on our range of technical qualifications.

Entry Requirement

You will need five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (including English and maths).

Assessment

The course is continuously assessed through assignments, projects and case studies. Students will develop a responsible and co-operative approach to working on their own and in groups. The course uses practical activities, presentations and involvement with local business wherever possible.
