To be successful in this industry, it is important to have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to communicate with a range of other people and to demonstrate effective team working skills. These qualities will all be enhanced through the range of sports coaching opportunities provided for students. This may be as part of planning and running a sports activity or through work experience. Students will also have the opportunity to analysis their own sports performance using bespoke analysis software that is used in elite sport. Those students wishing to pursue a career in fitness will have the opportunity to develop knowledge or training methods using the on site gym.

The course is continuously assessed by assignments, projects and case studies. Students will develop a responsible and co-operative approach to working on their own and in groups. The course uses practical activities, presentations and involvement with local businesses wherever possible.
This course is a recognised route into an Extended Diploma course; students should aim for a merit or distinction grade to ensure progression.
