Understanding Anxiety

Course Overview

During this course you will:

  1. Have a clear definition of Anxiety and know the difference between anxiety and fear
  2. Be able to describe the difference between a coping strategy and a safety behaviour when feeling anxious
  3. Understand how people experience anxiety – physical, thoughts & emotional experiences
  4. Understand more about “what if” thinking and catastrophe thinking
  5. Have tools and techniques to help you cope with your own anxiety and have sources of information to find out more.

Course Content

During this course, you will learn how anxiety affects the way you think and react and how it affects you physically. You will also learn how small changes in the way you think can make a big difference in your life.  We will share techniques for supporting you when you're experiencing anxiety in a variety of situations.

  • Be able to cope with course content*
  • Be able to benefit from self development
  • Have emotional stability*

* this course is suitable for people with mild to moderate anxiety. If you experience severe anxiety, this course may not be appropriate for you and we encourage you to seek guidance from your GP.
