Course Overview

This City and Guilds Dog Grooming Assistants course is for those who want to work in the dog grooming industry and want to progress to higher-level dog grooming qualifications.

Please note that you are not required to provide your own dog to practice the skills learnt in this course.

All students will be advised to buy a grooming tool kit to help develop practical skills.

Course Content

The level 2 qualification is ideal for those looking to begin working in the dog grooming industry and want to learn the skills needed to work under supervision in a dog grooming salon. The course will cover:

Preparing and grooming dogs before bathing
Bathing and cleaning dogs
Cleaning and maintaining equipment
Controlling and restraining dogs
Drying dogs and preparing their coats for styling
Basic trimming
Maintaining cleanliness and biosecurity in the workplace

Assessment

You will complete a portfolio of evidence throughout the course which consists of a balance of theory and practical assessment. Some directed learning is expected to take place at home. You will also need to complete one multiple-choice online test.
