Community Impact

BCoT honoured with the Basingstoke Business for Good Award.

A key highlight of this year's Basingstoke Business Week saw BCoT honoured with the prestigious Basingstoke Business for Good Award. This recognition celebrates the College's deep commitment to social responsibility, powerfully demonstrating that education is a force for good—not only in developing future talent but also in actively nurturing kindness, community support, and sustainability.

The award ceremony acknowledged BCoT’s ongoing efforts to create a meaningful and positive impact on its students, staff and the wider community.

The award was presented to the College by Luke Murphy MP and Kaia Vincent of Brevity Marketing, one of the event's key sponsors and organisers.

Anthony Bravo OBE, Principal of BCoT, shared his gratitude, stating, "We are incredibly proud and honoured to accept the Basingstoke Business for Good Award. This recognition serves as a meaningful validation of our core values and belief that as educators, we must lead by example in our community."

BCoT demonstrates a clear and practical approach to creating measurable impact, seamlessly embedding social good into its daily operations and culture.

  • Supporting Students and Staff: A food bank is readily available to support staff and students when needed. The College's outreach café offers invaluable one-to-one English and Maths sessions for members of the local community, breaking down barriers to learning.

  • Student-Led Initiatives: Community involvement is central to student life. Students regularly participate in vital local initiatives, such as visiting care homes to offer hair styling and afternoon tea for residents, providing hands-on experience while spreading joy.

  • Staff Volunteering: Staff are actively encouraged to volunteer through designated Wellbeing Days. The College is now tracking this activity to celebrate and encourage the positive difference being made across the region.

BCoT ensures that positive values are integrated into the working environment right from the start. Every new member of staff completes an internal induction programme that builds awareness around wellbeing and inclusion.  In terms of environmental commitment, BCoT has developed its own sustainability challenges, encouraging both staff and students to make small but meaningful environmental improvements campus-wide, creating a culture of long-term responsibility.

BCoT looks forward to building on this success, continuing to create impact through education, community action and everyday sustainability.
