FIND A COURSECourse Introduction
This one-year NCFE qualification is designed for learners who are looking to work with children between birth and five years, and gain knowledge of working with children up to seven years.
This course meets the Department for Education (DfE) Level 2 criteria that set out the knowledge, understanding and skills that a practitioner must demonstrate to achieve an Early Years Practitioner status and be counted in the ratios.
Units for this course include:
- Principles of professional practice
- Roles and responsibilities of the early years practitioner
- Health and safety of babies and young children in the early years
- Equality, diversity and inclusive practice in early years settings
- Safeguarding, protection and welfare of babies and young children in early years settings
- Understand how to support children’s development
- Support care routines for babies and young children
- Support the planning and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes
- Promote play in an early years setting
- Support wellbeing of babies and young children for healthy lifestyles [Mandatory]
- Support babies and young children to be physically active [Mandatory]
- Support the needs of babies and young children with special educational needs and disability (SEND)
- Promote positive behaviour in early years settings
- Partnership working in the early years
- Support the needs of the child in preparing for school
- Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and maths or completion of our level 1 course.
- Internally marked assessments
- Direct observation of the learner’s performance by their assessor
- Outcomes from oral or written questioning
- Products of the learner’s work
- Personal statements and/or reflective accounts
- Professional discussion
- Expert witness testimony
Successful completion of this course would allow you to progress to the T Level in Early Years.
English and maths at grade 4 are mandatory conditions of progression.
