BCoT’s Rosie Haver Named 'Place to be Proud of' Award Finalist
BCoT student Rosie Havers has been recognised as a local hero after successfully reaching the finals for the Young Role Model Award at the annual Place to be Proud of Awards.
Rosie Haver, a Level 3 Public Services student, secured her place as a finalist due to her exceptional leadership, civic duty, and her unique ability to bridge the gap between the student body, college governors, and the wider Basingstoke community.
Alongside the demanding academic training required for a career in the Uniformed Services, Rosie has become a vital pillar of daily operations at BCoT, simultaneously holding three major leadership titles: Student Representative, College Ambassador, and Student Governor.
Rosie’s impact extends far beyond the college campus. Earlier this year, she was invited to address national education leaders at the Association of Colleges (AoC) Digital Insights Day, speaking on how artificial intelligence and technology are shaping the modern classroom.
Her dedication to Basingstoke's civic life was also heavily praised by Destination Basingstoke following her extensive volunteer work at the Basingstoke Half Marathon and 10k. Race organisers singled Rosie out for her efficiency and "can-do" attitude, calling her a credit to the college and destined for significant career success.
Whether navigating quarterly board meetings with senior corporate executives, guiding prospective families at college open days, or learning a new language in her spare time, Rosie has consistently demonstrated professional maturity well beyond her years. Even during a gruelling Duke of Edinburgh expedition last year, her leadership shone through as she rallied a struggling team, ensuring they crossed the finish line together under the Public Services ethos of "leave no one behind."
Rosie’s career transition is already underway. What began as a volunteering placement for her Duke of Edinburgh Award at The Vyne School has already evolved into a formal, part-time position within their Physical Education department - a direct result of the professional impression she left on the school’s leadership team.
The Place to be Proud of Awards celebrate the extraordinary contributions of individuals, schools, and organisations that make Basingstoke a wonderful place to live and work.
