Course Introduction
This two-year BTEC qualification is practical, career-focused and equivalent to two A-Levels. It provides a deep understanding of core business functions—marketing, finance, HR, and management—giving you the practical skills needed to head straight into work, an apprenticeship, or university. This course will also help you to develop a range of transferable skills to meet employer demand, including communication, teamwork, management and organisation.
Over the two years, you will study a range of units, and will be assessed by a combination of external exams, written work and practical projects.
In the first year, you will study the following units:
1 Exploring Business
2 Developing a Marketing Campaign
3 Personal and Business Finance
19 Pitching for a New Business
In the second year, you will study the following units:
6 Principles of Management
4 Managing an Event
5 International Business
15 Investigating a Retail Business
- Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths, or a relevant level 2 qualification.
If you are a progressing student, successful completion of the Level 2 in Business course is accepted provided that you have also achieved English and maths at grade 4 or above, (or have passed either English or maths, and have also passed your Finance and Marketing exams at level 2)
Assessment is by a combination of exams, written assessments and practical projects.
This course can lead to a range of business related employment, higher level apprenticeships or University.
