Course Overview

This one-year course covers a mixture of different subjects that reflect popular employment streams in the IT industry; it is also the ideal foundation for you to progress to a Level 3 course.

For businesses to be successful, they require IT systems that are well designed and carefully implemented. The IT systems form the core of both the processes of businesses, and to the running of our daily lives.

This course examines how to construct, upgrade, and install computer systems and make computer networks that are safe and secure, to meet the technological and security demands of industry. This course provides an up-to-date insight into the way that these systems sustain the modern world.

Course Content

This course covers a wide range of subjects including cyber security, emerging technologies, networking, installing and maintaining computer hardware and building computer systems.

Entry Requirement

  • Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and maths, or completion of our Future Pathways course.

Assessment

You are assessed via a range of assessment methods, which includes an examination set and a collection of practical and written assignment set and marked by your unit lecturers.

Where does this course lead to

Upon completion, you can progress to a Level 3 Computing and IT qualification.
