Travel and Tourism

This popular course will prepare you for a career in the travel industry with a specific focus on the foundation skills needed to become cabin crew. You will learn about long haul destinations, the cruise industry, working as a holiday rep, airlines and airports, handling passengers, resort operations, travel sales and visitor attractions. In the second year you will have the opportunity to study an additional qualification in Air Cabin Crew. A range of industry-specific trips and residential visits are an important part of this course too.

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths, or a relevant Level 2 qualification.

The course is continuously assessed through assignments, projects and case studies. Learners develop a responsible and co-operative approach to working on their own and in groups. The course uses practical activities, presentations and involvement with local business wherever possible.

This course is a recognised route into Higher Education. Students may progress to a Higher National Diploma or Degree course. Employment opportunities range from airlines, tour operation and travel agencies to tourist boards and attractions.
