BCoT is proud to announce it has been awarded the prestigious Basingstoke Business for Good verification, recognising its commitment to ethical and sustainable practices. The verification, a collaboration between Destination Basingstoke and Brevity Marketing, celebrates local businesses that prioritise people and the planet on an equal footing with profit.

"We are delighted to have BCoT on board and helping us drive positive change," said Kaia Vincent, owner of Brevity Marketing. "The College has a huge role to play in educating the next generation and empowering staff and students to recognise and take action to deliver a positive difference. Our verification focuses on hands-on actions that directly benefit both the business and the local community of Basingstoke and Deane, and BCoT's involvement will have a fantastic ripple effect."

Anthony Bravo OBE, Principal of BCoT, added: "I am incredibly proud that BCoT has received this verification. It is a testament to our ongoing commitment to our students, staff, and the wider community. This recognition reinforces our values and our dedication to making a positive impact on the environment. We look forward to leading by example and inspiring others to join us on this important journey."

As part of this initiative, the college is launching a new series of monthly sustainability challenges for staff, aimed at promoting a more environmentally conscious workplace. The "Sustainable College Sustainability Challenge Calendar" will provide a different focus each month, from saving water and paper to reducing food waste, shopping locally, and walking to work. The challenges are designed to encourage a range of actions, from simple daily habits to bigger lifestyle changes, all aimed at helping staff reduce their environmental impact.

Additionally, BCoT is volunteering its time to support the development of the handcrafted wooden award plaques that will be presented to all verified companies in November at a special awards ceremony.

The Basingstoke Business for Good verification requires businesses to meet at least five of seven key criteria, which include supporting local suppliers, paying fair wages, and implementing sustainability challenges for employees. This recognition reinforces the College's dedication to making a positive impact on both its community and the environment.
