The College is celebrating our outstanding Careers and Industry Placement programme.

28 Nov 2025

The College was given Commended status at the prestigious Association of Colleges (AoC) Awards.  The national recognition in the Excellence in Careers and Enterprise category highlights the College's success in providing high-quality, impartial advice that prepares every one of our students to confidently step into their future - whether that involves university, an apprenticeship, or employment.

Our Careers and Industry Placement Team is dedicated to empowering students through a holistic approach to career development. The careers programme ensures learners have the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their progression.

  • One-to-One Guidance: Students receive personalised support through one-to-one careers advice, CV development, and interview skill workshops.

  • Accessibility: Open drop-in sessions ensure support is readily available, helping students navigate their progression options with ease.

A key factor in the commendation is BCoT's strong engagement with employers, providing students with invaluable real-world experience. The College has cultivated powerful partnerships with major companies, including Vodafone and Cisco.

Anthony Bravo, Principal and Chief Executive of BCoT, commented: "This Commended Award is a fantastic testament to our 'Building Careers of Tomorrow' mission. It recognises the passion and dedication of our staff in ensuring every student, regardless of their path, leaves BCoT not just with a qualification, but with the confidence, connections, and professional experience to succeed."

Throughout the academic year, the college hosts numerous events designed to broaden students' horizons:

  • Expert Speakers: Guest speakers from diverse industries share insights into career journeys, current technologies, and professional life.

  • Progression Fairs: Job and apprenticeship fairs provide essential opportunities for all students to meet directly with a range of employers, voluntary organisations, and Higher Education providers to discuss their next steps.

The tangible impact of the programme is evident in the successful careers of BCoT alumni, who have gone on to diverse roles at prestigious companies such as McClaren, British Airways, The Body Shop, and The Police.

The AoC Commended Award officially recognises BCoT as a leader in innovative and impactful careers and enterprise provision within the UK Further Education sector.
