GCSE Results Day Success
Students and staff at Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) are celebrating an exceptional set of GCSE results today, reinforcing the College's reputation for driving excellence in essential literacy and numeracy.
BCoT students delivered high achievement across the board, securing an impressive 95% pass rate in GCSE English and a 95.5% pass rate in GCSE Mathematics. Success in maths was particularly strong, with 24.5% of students securing high grades (9 to 4), surpassing the General Further Education (GFE) national average of 13.4% by 11.1%.
Alongside its extensive range of vocational courses and T Levels, BCoT provides a vital pathway for students to retake GCSE English and maths if they did not achieve at least a Grade 4 at school.
Chipo Noami Hameja secured a Grade 6 in GCSE English while studying for her Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Information Technology.

"BCoT has given me such a great education and so many amazing opportunities to grow and learn. The teachers are super supportive, the environment is really encouraging, and I’ve gained so much knowledge, confidence, and skills that will help me in the future!" - Chipo Noami Hameja
Despite entering the course with no prior formal qualification in English Language, Saadatu Ndzewiyi achieved an impressive Grade 5 in GCSE English.

"My time at BCoT has been an amazing experience that has helped me develop confidence, independence, and determination in my studies. The support from my teachers has motivated me to work hard and aim high for my future." - Saadatu Ndzewiyi
Reflecting on their hard work, English Lecturer Michael Lawford praised their dedication:
"It takes perseverance and commitment for students to retake their GCSEs alongside their main course. Both Saadatu and Chipo have been outstanding learners. Saadatu has a strong work ethic and constantly pushes herself to improve, while Chipo’s creative writing is first-class. Congratulations to them and all of our GCSE English students collecting results today."
Akrita Rai achieved a 5 in GCSE Maths and English while studying Early Years.
Akrita said “Completing my GCSEs was an incredibly positive experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the variety of subjects and found the learning environment highly supportive. It allowed me to develop strong, independent study habits and deepen my passion for learning.”

Lucy Armstrong celebrated achieving a 6 in English, making phenomenal progress this year.
"After previous attempts, everything really clicked for her this term. She took complete ownership of her learning—balancing independent study with active class participation and her dedication paid off brilliantly with a fantastic Grade 6. She has been a truly valued member of the group, and her success is thoroughly deserved," said Jane Toes, English Lecturer

Lorraine Heath, Principal of BCoT, commended the hard work of both students and teaching staff:
"Huge congratulations to our GCSE students opening their results today. The commitment they've put in throughout the course has been truly impressive, and I hope they take real pride in what they've achieved as they move on to the next stage of their journey."
"I'd also like to recognise the brilliant work of our English and maths lecturers this year, whose tailored, supportive approach has made such a difference to our students' experience."
