Course Introduction

This two-year T Level focuses on manufacturing, process and control in the engineering and manufacturing sectors. It has been designed with employers to teach you core content knowledge and skills related to engineering & manufacturing. This will allow you to progress to highly skilled employment, university or an apprenticeship.

You will cover:

  • Processes of production and manufacturing
  • Materials used in production, manufacturing, and fabrication environments
  • Specialist machinery utilised in the production and manufacturing environments
  • Product and project management
  • Quality assurance and quality control


Roughly 75% of your learning will be theory-based and will develop your research, problem-solving, solution development, communication and collaboration skills. This is a varied course where one week you could produce sketches and drawings on industry-standard software, and the next you could be working in a group to produce a tender.

Industry Placement 
The T Level will include a minimum of 315 hours of learning on work experience placement. Our Industrial Placement Officers will help you link up with an employer and complete work experience relevant to your interests.

T Levels are a post-GCSE option. To qualify, you'll need:

  • Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths.
  • To be aged between 16-18 at the start of the qualification.

Externally set exams, project work, portfolio assessments and written assignments.
Successful completion of this course opens up a variety of exciting progression pathways for your future including higher education, a related apprenticeship or employment.
