Course Introduction

This is year one for a two-year course. Successful completion of year one will allow progression to year two.

This two-year advanced-level course will prepare you for a range of careers in engineering or further study at university. You will cover areas including maths and communications for technicians, workshop practices, computer-aided design (CAD), engineering drawing, electrical and electronic principles, and computer-aided manufacturing.

The course covers a wide range of subjects, including:

Mathematics for technicians
Communications for technicians
Engineering workshop practices
Electronic fault-finding
Computer-aided design
Electrical and electronic principles
Computer-aided manufacture
Engineering project

Entry Requirement

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths, or a relevant level 2 qualification.

Assessment

The course is continuously assessed through assignments, projects and case studies. Students will develop a responsible and cooperative approach to working on their own and in groups. The course uses practical activities, presentations and involvement with local businesses wherever possible.
