This qualification aims to prepare learners to become early years educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to five years and gain knowledge of children aged five to seven years.
During this diploma you will study the mandatory units which are:
- Introduction to the Role of the Early Years EducatorĀ

- Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)Ā
- Effective Communication in an Early Years SettingĀ
- Safeguarding and Welfare RequirementsĀ
- Health, Wellbeing and SafetyĀ
- Promoting an Effective Early Years CurriculumĀ
- Assessment of Childrenās Learning and DevelopmentĀ
- Understanding Play for Learning and Holistic DevelopmentĀ
- Partnership WorkingĀ
Applicants should work in an early years setting and preferably have a Level 2 Diploma in Childcare or relevant experience.
This qualification is work-based and your programme will be delivered in the workplace and online, with an allocated, experienced Business Trainer. They will assess your work, giving you development feedback, professional discussions, and workplace observations.
This qualification can lead to a Level 4 Advanced Practitioner Certificate.
