Maintenance & Operations Engineering Technicians covers 7 roles: Electrical Technicians; Mechanical Technicians; Control & Instrumentation Technicians; Wind Turbine Technicians Electrical System and Process Control Technicians; Electromechanical Technicians and Plant Operations Technicians. They will maintain the safety, integrity and effective operation of plant and equipment in one or more of the following Industries that are part of or have activities that are part of the broader national infrastructure Engineering Sector: the electricity generating environment, which may use a range of different fuels including coal, gas, nuclear, wind and other renewable sources; telecommunications power plants; oil and gas refining; nuclear waste reprocessing; processing and production of chemicals; pharmaceuticals; human and animal food; cosmetics; petrochemicals; sewerage and the exploration and exploitation of oil and gas.

The duration of this apprenticeship is typically 36 Months study.

Candidates must be employed to complete this standard.

Course Content

Completed at college over 36 Months; 

Year 1 - (Optional) Either ERBL026 or ERBL018.

Year 2 - Either ERBL028 or ERBL030 Y1

Year 3 - The second year of the selected course from year two.

If required English and/or Math's Functional skills level 2.

Completed at the workplace over 36 Months; 

A workbased E- Portfolio of evidence.

20% Off The Job Training (agreed by the employer and Training Provider).

Entry Requirement

Individual employers will set the recruitment and selection criteria for their Apprenticeships.

Typically 3 GCSEs at grade C or higher including mathematics, English and science, or equivalent and/or relevant experience.

Assessment

The college courses are assessed through the completion of college assignments.

The workplace competency is assessed by the candidate completing a portfolio of evidence gathered from workplace activities.

Upon completion of the above training you will be required to complete an End Point Assessment which be delivered by the End Point assessment team.

The course offers progression to the HNC and is a recognised means of career progression within the engineering industry.
