Course Overview

This apprenticeship is designed for your apprentices seeking to become competent at Level 3 in the engineering pathway relevant to your business. The apprenticeship develops the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in one of the following engineering disciplines: mechanical, electrical, electronic or maintenance.

Your apprentice will benefit from excellent teaching and learning facilities and an industry experienced and qualified staff team. The technical, taught components of the course will enable your apprentice to develop in depth knowledge of relevant core units. The practical aspect of the course will help to develop your apprentice's application of knowledge and skills in your workplace. This is supported by expert assessors who will work with you to ensure the development of skills and knowledge is tailored to meet the requirements of your business.

This is for Pathways 9 ( Machinist ) and 11 ( Technical Support Technician)

Course Content

This apprenticeship programme covers a range of practical skills and underpinning knowledge and includes the following components:

1. Under pinning Knowledge delivered in the form of a technical certificate achieved at college in Mechanical Engineering.

Work place competency delivered in the form of a NVQ.

Functional Skills in Maths, English (Level 2)

If you are aged under 19 and if you do not hold a GCSE grade C or higher in English and Maths, you will be required to work towards these qualifications.

Entry Requirement

You will need GCSEs in English, Maths and a Science subject at grade C/4 or above and have successfully completed a relevant Level 2 qualification. You will also need to be employed in this sector (we can help with finding relevant employment).

Assessment

The Work place competency is assessed by the candidate completing a portfolio of evidence gathered from workplace activities.


The Technical certificate is assessed through the completion of college assignments.


Upon completion of the above training you will be required to complete an End Point Assessment which be delivered by the End Point assessment team.

Where does this course lead to

The course offers progression to the HNC and is a recognised means of career progression within the engineering industry.
