This course has been designed specifically for mature students who have been out of full-time education for at least one year and do not have the relevant qualifications for entry to higher education. This course is designed for anyone who wants to undertake a career in a healthcare related field such as nursing, social work or midwifery.
You will attend college three days a week between 9.30 and 3.00
You will be assigned a personal tutor who will support you with your UCAS application and personal development.
Good time-management skills are necessary as assessment of the course is on an on-going basis.
We have a new clinical skill lab, where you will be able to undertake practical units such as: Clinical Skills, Counselling and Understanding the Patient Journey
This course has been designed specifically for mature students who do not have the relevant qualifications for entry to higher education. This course is designed to get you to University and is worth between 48 and 144 UCAS points (for September entry), depending on the grade you achieve.
You will attend college three days a week between 9.30 and 3.00. The lesson structure is relaxed and informal with an emphasis on participation including discussions, seminars, individual and group research. You will be assigned a personal tutor who will support you with studies and personal development.

You need to be aged 19+ from the beginning of September. You should have a minimum of GCSE English and Maths at grades C/4 or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths.
All applicants will need to write 500 words on their hobbies or interests, this should also include why you want to apply for Access and what your long term goals are. We will use this submission to assess what support you may need on the Access course.
There will be numerous assignment tasks such as presentations, posters, essays and short tests throughout the course and no end of course examinations.
