This apprenticeship provides the skills and knowledge needed to support doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and healthcare scientists when they provide healthcare. The apprentice should be working in a variety of clinical support roles which provide patient care including hospitals, community settings, care homes or patients own homes.
To successfully achieve the apprenticeship, the apprentice will need to achieve a
Level 2 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare
Maths and English Functional skills L1 (unless you already have the equivalent)
Attempt Maths and English Functional skills L2
The Care Certificate
Complete the End point Assessment and achieve a grade
Learners need to be currently working in healthcare environment and working towards or have achieved the Care Certificate.
A functional skills entry level 3 or higher (or equivalent) in Maths and English is required
The apprentice needs to undertake the Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service process and provide the result prior to starting.
Once on the apprenticeship a suitably qualified assessor will be assigned that will visit the workplace regularly. They will complete assessment plans and 12 weekly reviews to keep the apprentice on target. They will support with collection of the required evidence needed for the qualification through different assessment methods such as; professional discussion, observations, written questions, verbal questions, witness statements and any assignments.
There will also be an End Point Assessment
(EPA) which will include
A situational judgement test which will
include a range of real-life scenarios about which the learner will have
to answer questions in a multiple choice format (60 questions). The assessment
will normally be undertaken online, under controlled conditions with a time
A professional discussion, which will be undertaken
with an independent assessor. The discussion will be of no more than 45 minutes
This apprenticeship provides the apprentice with the skills and knowledge to support their colleagues in the healthcare sector and can enables them to progress in their chosen career as a healthcare worker.
