Course Introduction

This one-year VTCT Skills qualification is aimed at learners who wish to pursue a career in the beauty industry, whether by being employed in a beauty salon, spa or becoming self-employed.

The course provides comprehensive training and education to equip learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the field of beauty therapy.

Course Content

During this one-year course, you will learn:

To follow health and safety practices in the salon
Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
To provide facial skincare
To remove hair using waxing techniques
To provide eyelash and brow treatments
To provide manicure treatments
To provide pedicure treatments
Salon reception duties
To display stock to promote sales in a salon
To provide eyelash lifting

Throughout this course, you will develop the knowledge, understanding, and skills to consult with clients whilst providing a range of beauty treatments. You will also develop your communication and customer service skills, awareness of environmental sustainability and commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem-solving, teamwork and research skills will also be developed.

Entry Requirement

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and maths or completion of our level 1 course.

Assessment

As part of this qualification, you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence. A portfolio will confirm the knowledge, understanding, and skills that you have learnt.

The practical assessment booklet, along with the portfolio of evidence, will serve as the prime source of evidence for this qualification.

Evidence in the portfolio may take the following forms:

• Projects

• Observed work

• Witness statements

• Audio-visual media

• Evidence of prior learning or attainment

• Written questions

• Oral questions

• Assignments

• Case studies

• Professional discussion

Where does this course lead to

Successful completion of this course would allow you to progress to Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies or a related apprenticeship/employment.

Learners who achieve this qualification are eligible to become members of the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) or the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).
