Course Introduction
This City and Guilds qualification is for those individuals who are looking to work in the construction industry, specifically as a craftsperson in carpentry and joinery. Carpenters and joiners have the skills and knowledge to manufacture and install structural and non-structural timber products and components. Learners will gain an understanding of the skills and knowledge that are important when working as a carpenter or joiner or progressing to further learning and training in this area. This qualification is suitable for those aged 16 years old or over.
Mandatory units:
- Health and safety in a construction environment
- Principles of welfare, health, and safety in construction environments
- Principles of working in the construction industry
- Timber technology
- Structural carpentry
- First fix carpentry
- Second fix carpentry
- Circular saw
- Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and maths or completion of our level 1 course.
A combination of multiple-choice theory assessment, externally set and externally marked and will be delivered online and practical assignments.
Following successful completion of this qualification, learners will be qualified to work in the construction industry as a carpenter or joiner.
