This Apprenticeship provides the apprentice with the knowledge and skills needed to support more senior staff and managers in the care sector. The apprentice may be working in a variety of care settings depending upon their role including:
In a more senior job role the apprentice will be making a positive difference to an individual's life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. They will be expected to exercise judgement and take appropriate steps to support individuals to maintain their independence, dignity and control as well as demonstrating how they improve the health and wellbeing of those receiving care and support. At this level the apprentice should be demonstrating leadership, guidance and direction to new staff members.
This apprenticeship is an integrated programme of knowledge and skills which has been developed alongside core behaviours expected of a competent worker operating in a regulated field.
The apprentice would achieve the following:
A level 3 Diploma in Health and Social care
Functional Skills in Maths and English at level 2
The Care Certificate
Apprentices are expected to be working care setting with at least 6 months experience where they may provide leadership, direction and guidance to others.
They must have completed the Care Certificate and have undertaken the Enhanced Disclosure and Barring process .
Prior to starting this qualification the apprentice will need to have achieved a level 1 (or have the equivalent) Functional skills in English and Maths
The diploma is completed by production of evidence
from the apprentice demonstrating understanding and competence in their

Successful completion of this apprenticeship will allow the apprentice to progress onto the Lead Practitioner in Adult Care
apprenticeship and the job roles that the apprentice could apply for could include deputy manager or specialist workers.
