Course Introduction
This one-year VTCT qualification has been specifically designed to develop practical skills in beauty therapy. The purpose of this qualification is to develop skills in beauty therapy and will provide you with the foundation for further learning. It will also enable performance in personal basic services and assist others in the salon.
Improving the appearance of the hands and feet with basic manicure and pedicure services, providing relaxing head massage treatments, cleansing, toning, and moisturising, and giving advice on skin care, and basic day make-up application. Artistic and creative elements include nail art, themed face painting, and photographic make-up. To underpin this qualification development of a sound knowledge of health and safety and underpinning knowledge and understanding of the skills required to support one in the beauty therapy industry, such as salon reception duties and working with others.

- GCSE English and maths at grade 2 or above
As part of this qualification, you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence. A portfolio will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt.
Your assessor will provide guidance on how to prepare the portfolio of evidence and how to show practical achievement and understanding of the knowledge required to successfully complete this qualification.
It is this booklet along with the portfolio of evidence that will serve as the prime source of evidence for this
qualification.
