Course Introduction

This apprenticeship is ideal for someone just starting their journey in accounting and can be the first step on the ladder to becoming a fully qualified Accountant.
You will learn on the job and in college, taking into account how you would assist in the day-to-day financial activities, such as data entry to month-end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements.  Additionally, the Assistant Accountant may be involved in regulatory financial requirements, such as completing VAT returns or assisting with tax computations. You’ll study for an AAT qualification by attending a college class one day a week with qualified tutors who all currently still work in the accounting industry.

Units studied will include:

  • Advanced Bookkeeping
  • Final Accounts Preparation
  • Management Accounting: Costing
  • Indirect Tax
  • Ethics for Accountants
  • Spreadsheets for Accounting
  • Synoptic Preparation

To qualify for this apprenticeship programme, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • GCSE English and maths at grade 4/C or above.
  • To start directly at Level 3 an AAT Foundation Certificate Level 2 is required. 

Each unit will be assessed by way of a computerised examination. Successful completion of all exams at each level will result in the qualification being awarded.

Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to:
  • AAT Professional Accounting Tax-Technician Apprenticeship
